WorldSprings is a mineral hot springs resort in The Colony, just outside Dallas, built around more than 40 mineral pools drawn from the world's great springs. In 2026 the property set out to make heat as central to the guest experience as water.
The Home Sauna delivered eight custom saunas for the expansion: seven distinct guest saunas placed throughout the grounds, plus a large-format event sauna built to host ceremonies. It is the largest single sauna program the company has taken on.
Rather than repeat one design seven times, each sauna was built around a different reason to step inside.
Each is a cedar barrel with a shingled roof and a full glass end wall, so guests read the room before they enter and keep a view of the property while they sit. Bench runs, heater placement and lighting were detailed individually to suit the experience inside.
The centerpiece is a large-format event sauna seating roughly 50 people, and the first of its kind in North Texas.
It was designed for Aufguss, the German sauna ritual in which a trained guide works the room with towels, moving waves of scented steam over the audience in time with music and lighting. That format changes the brief entirely. Sightlines have to work like a theater. Heat has to recover fast enough to run back-to-back sessions. The heater has to take repeated water loads without dropping temperature, and the room has to hold a full house comfortably from the front bench to the back.
A resort sauna runs open to close, seven days a week, with guests cycling in and out every few minutes. Every material decision was made against that reality.
Kiln-dried cedar throughout for dimensional stability under constant heat cycling. Commercial-grade heaters sized for continuous load rather than intermittent home use. Ventilation, drainage and electrical detailed for outdoor placement in the Texas climate, with service access planned so maintenance never interrupts a guest session.
The saunas were installed in phases so the resort stayed open throughout, with units coming online one and two at a time across the season.

The build gave WorldSprings a heat program with the same range as its water, and gave guests a reason to move through the property rather than settle in one place. The same craftsmanship that goes into a private home sauna, scaled to a destination resort and built to hold up to it.
